Slow Cooked Pulled Pork

This easy to follow recipe will help you get perfect pulled pork every time. Us this to make pulled pork burgers (add SPAR enjoy local burger baps and dressings eg: coleslaw, red onion etc).

 Ingredients:

  • 5kg boneless pork shoulder from your community butcher (skin and excess fat removed)
  • 2 The Greengrocers onions, halved and sliced
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp ground cumin 
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp mustard 
  • 3tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp tomato purée 
  • 2tbsp light brown sugar

Method

  • Heat the slow cooker to high.
  • Place the onions into the slow cooker. Mix the spices, salts, mustard, vinegar, tomato purée and sugar together and rub over the pork.
  • Place the pork on top of the onions and cook for 8 hours.
  • Remove the pork and shred into chunks.
  • Mix some of the cooking liquid from the slow cooker in with the pork (3-5 tbsp).
