Following the success of the inaugural event in 2017, EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA stores across Northern Ireland are once again hosting in-store Coffee Mornings in aid of local charity Cancer Fund for Children later this month.
The events, which will take place throughout the province on Saturday 24th March from 10am – 2pm, are to be held in a total of 62 stores and organisers have high hopes for the fundraising total, with a sum of over £36,000 raised last year.
To encourage some healthy competition within communities, a ‘Bake-Off’ competition has been introduced across all EUROSPAR & VIVOXTRA stores. Shoppers are asked to bring along their own baked cakes, tray bakes or buns to the coffee morning with a £50 voucher up for grabs for the winning creation as chosen by the store manager.
For shoppers that prefer to leave the baking to the professionals, there’ll be a selection of enjoy local buns, traybakes and sweet treats on offer in exchange for a small donation. Barista Bar, Northern Ireland’s biggest retail coffee brand return as event sponsors, serving up freshly ground ‘Coffee How it Should Be!’ for shoppers to enjoy as they chat and socialise with friends and family at the event.
Catherine McAlynn, EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA Brand Manager encouraged shoppers to get involved with the event saying, “We’d love as many of our shoppers as possible to join us at our coffee mornings on Saturday 24th March. EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA stores are at the heart of so many communities in Northern Ireland, something that we’re incredibly proud of. We have witnessed the generosity of these communities in the past and we’re confident that this years’ event will be bigger and better than before.”
Q Radio’s ‘Q Saturday Brunch’ show, hosted by Errol and Adelle will be covering all of the fun of the event, broadcasting live from P&G EUROSPAR, Portadown and there will be face painters and family entertainment at selected stores.
All the money raised at the coffee mornings will go directly towards helping individuals and families such as Karen and Tom Brown, pictured above, who have benefitted from the wide range of services Cancer Fund for Children have on offer. Following Tom Brown’s cancer diagnosis in 2015, Cancer Fund for Children were able to offer one-to-one support to Tom’s older brother Robbie, facilitate a short-break for the whole family and provide financial grants in order to help the Browns cope with the cost of traveling to hospital.
Lauren Cunningham, Cancer Fund for Children Corporate Fundraiser, spoke on behalf of the charity saying, “The EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA brands support Cancer Fund for Children by hosting many events throughout the year, with the Coffee Morning event being one of the biggest. Last years’ event raised a tremendous amount of money, which made such a difference to the lives of young people and their families that have been affected by cancer in Northern Ireland. We are very grateful to everyone that called in and made a donation and hope to see lots of new and familiar faces at the coffee mornings on 24th March!”
