EUROSPAR Greencastle Street has doubled in size thanks to a £4.7M investment from its owners, Henderson Retail. The refurbishment that has seen the outlet double in size, bringing over 3,000 new products for local shoppers plus a brand new in-store production kitchen.
The store now employs 105 people from the local area, creating a community focused team who are passionate about local food.
Award-winning store manager, John Fox leads the team and says; “Our new look community supermarket delivers a fresh market, housing products from over 190 local suppliers, including those from the local area. Shoppers can also find Kilkeel’s first in-store production kitchen, managed by a team of three local experts who will be cooking meals and dishes fresh every day.”
Sharon, Lewis and Linzi will work with local ingredients to make shopper favourites in the kitchen including beef lasagne, chicken curry and rice, chicken and bacon carbonara, spaghetti Bolognese and a range of delicious sides and desserts.
The area’s local producers found in-store include Oh, So Lean, John Mulligan Potatoes, fresh fish from The Galley, Riverlodge Eggs, Corn Dolly Bread and Cakes and Shelbourne Bakery. Kilkeel’s popular Cunningham’s Butchery also has a counter in-store, with Phil Orderly at the helm.
The store’s community engagement continues to thrive with the store supporting Newry Street Unite community centre, the local Men’s Shed, Cornerstone Foodbank and of course, EUROSPAR’s charity partner, Cancer Fund for Children.
