How To Cook Sirloin Steak

Located between the fillet and the rib, the sirloin has a great balance between tenderness and taste and is a popular among steak lovers. It is recommended sirloin steak is cooked medium-rare. This allows the fat to render into the meat, increasing its tenderness.

How to cook Sirloin Steak

1. Remove your steaks out of the packaging and pat dry. Allow them to come to room temperature before cooking, then season generously.

2. Pre-heat your oven to 180C / gas mark 4.

3. Pre-heat your frying pan over a high heat and add oil.

4. When the pan is very hot (oil almost smoking) add the steak to the pan. Cook on a medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes on each side. 

5. After you first flip the steak, add butter and regularly baste the steaks with this. Basting tip: tilt the pan towards you so the butter pools at the bottom of the pan, then repeatedly spoon the butter over the steak.

6. Remove the steaks from the pan and place them in the oven for 2-3 minutes.

7. Remove the steaks from the oven and allow it to rest for 5-10 minutes in a warm place before serving.
