EUROSPAR Doagh has reopened after a £2.4 million refurbishment bringing a host of new products and services for the local community, while creating 10 new jobs.

Store Manager Daniel Duncan and team welcomed their first shoppers from 6am on Thursday 18th June, exactly five years since reopening after Henderson Retail acquired the business in 2021.

Thanks to the introduction of new in-store services, alongside more than 1,300 additional products, a variety of exciting new roles have been created, offering great opportunities to build and develop a career in retail.

Daniel commented; “We now have a team of 53 staff from the local community, with 10 new jobs created at our all-new in-store production kitchen, SPAR Bakery and our Delish deli.

“Henderson Retail has now invested £6.1 million into EUROSPAR Doagh since 2021, bringing a modern shopping experience to the area. We are excited to welcome our local shoppers back in-store to experience everything under one roof, including our fresh and local SPAR NI range, the SPAR brand range of everyday essentials and our all-new food and coffee to go offering.”

EUROSPAR Doagh’s in-store production kitchen will see the new team of cooks creating freshly prepared family favourites throughout the day, which can be brought home ready to heat and eat. The new Delish deli offers a wide choice of hot and cold options to eat on the go, from ‘Grab & Go’ protein muffins and wraps, hot meals and sides to pick ‘n’ mix pots, alongside southern fried chicken fillet burgers, rice and salad boxes, and a ‘create your own’ sandwich, salad or wrap bar.

A new SPAR bakery offers an increased number of baked goods, made fresh in-store every day, while the team will also serve freshly made lunches in-store. The food to go options are complemented by two Barista Bar coffee to go machines, while Jenkin’s Butchers from Ballyclare continues to offer a bigger range of fresh and locally sourced pre-packed meats and poultry, with a range of deals available for shoppers, including 30% off sirloin steaks and pork loin as a limited opening offer.

George Rankin, Retail Director at Henderson Group added; “EUROSPAR Doagh is a modern, accessible supermarket at the heart of the local community. To be able to reopen and reveal the all-new products and services to our shoppers exactly five years after we first acquired the store, and invest a further £2.4m into the store and area, shows our commitment to the community.

“We work hard every day to be a hub in the heart of our community, and our bigger team also means we can extend our engagement with local charities, organisations and community groups that are making a difference in the local area.”

The community programme, led by Clive Sloan, has seen store colleagues visiting local organisations in the lead up to the reopening, including Mid Antrim Animal Sanctuary, where £1,000 was donated by the team to help continue their efforts to support animals who need rehomed across NI. The store also recently supported the McClintock family with their charity coffee morning in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

Clive added; “We donated a number of supplies to the coffee morning from tea and coffee to milk, traybakes and some flowers for the tables. We were also very proud to donate several products to the Holeston Young Farmers’ YFCU Charity Breakfast in aid of Leukemia and Lymphoma NI, and continue to support local charities like NI Chest Heart & Stroke, and EUROSPAR NI’s charity partner, Cancer Fund for Children.”
