Glengormley’s EUROSPAR Glenwell has officially reopened after a £5.5 million refurbishment which has seen its footprint increase by over 70% to 8,578 sq. ft.

The popular supermarket’s extension and refurbishment has also created 47 new jobs, meaning there are now 91 team members from the area employed in-store.

Thanks to the introduction of new in-store services, alongside more than 1,700 additional products bringing the total range to over 6,000, a variety of exciting new roles have been created, offering great opportunities to build and develop a career in retail.

Since opening in 2001, owners Henderson Retail have continually invested in EUROSPAR Glenwell to bring modern shopping experiences to the area, with everything under one roof.

George Rankin, Retail Director at Henderson Group commented; “EUROSPAR Glenwell’s extension and refurbishment is our flagship project for the year, and it is fantastic to see the new features, offers and products come to life for our local shoppers.

“This project has allowed us to completely refurbish the in-store full service Post Office, however our biggest changes are the introduction of the in-store production kitchen, with an all-new deli counter under the Delish brand, with hot and cold options throughout the day, an extended fresh bar, chicken pick ‘n’ mix, and Southern Fried Chicken. Glenwell houses our biggest range of food for now, with new concepts such as hot porridge and soup on-the-go.”

The range includes healthier options for breakfast, lunch and snacking, such as yogurt and fruit pots, overnight oats, protein breakfast wraps and muffins, grain bowls and eggs and spinach pots.

A new bakery offers an increased number of baked goods, made fresh in-store every day, and complemented by three Barista Bar coffee to go machines and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Local butchery Mayfields has a bigger range of fresh and locally sourced pre-packed meats and poultry, selected by butcher Brendan Donnelly.

The store also brings a taste of South Down to the area, welcoming a range of fresh fish and chips from The Galley in Annalong, bringing fresh new tastes and flavours to the shelves.

George added; “EUROSPAR Glenwell’s range of fruit, vegetables and groceries now sits at over 6,000 products, spanning fresh and local, own-brand and everyday essentials, providing an impressive range of choice, quality and value.”

Tesco Price Match continues on over 1,000 products, reducing the cost of everyday essentials, and while promotions will also run throughout the year and seasonally, shoppers can take advantage of local coupons and opening giveaways and offers in the coming weeks.

Alex Evans, Store Manager of EUROSPAR Glenwell says the whole team is delighted to reopen the doors and show shoppers its new features; “Our local community has been understanding, patient and loyal while we undertook the works to improve our store for them and their increasing needs and wants. With everything under one roof and right on their doorsteps, we are providing an even more elevated shopping experience, which is also efficient thanks to our ample car parking, self-checkouts for both baskets and trolleys, and our unique 24-hour opening hours.

“It isn’t only about providing food for now and food for later in-store, as a store that has been part of the Glengormley area for 25 years, we make it our mission to be a hub for the local community and have several partnerships with local charities, schools and community groups that we can now expand upon, thanks to our increase in team size.”

EUROSPAR Glenwell has supported 32 local charities over the years, raising over £38,000 through over 90 events in the past five years, managed by community rep, Steph. EUROSPAR’s charity partner is Cancer Fund for Children,  with the store fundraising over £8,000 for the charity recently. Steph added; “We are proud to partner with and support incredible organisations in our local community from The Barron Hall and Queen’s Park Women’s community groups, the Mayfield Village Community Association, Newtownabbey Foodbank, Ardrigh Fold, Ashwood House, Martin Residential Trust and Glenabbey Manor Nursing Home.”

EUROSPAR Glenwell is open 24 hours with Post Office services available 8am – 8pm, Monday to Sunday. Follow on Facebook for store news and up to date deals.
