Loaded Hot Dog with Crispy Fried Onions

Ingredients 

  • 1 onion
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 4 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 sausages
  • 4 brioche rolls
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 lime

Method 

Step 1

Place the sliced onion in a bowl with the buttermilk.

Step 2

Stir and marinate for 30 minutes. 

Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan, then place the flour, paprika, garlic salt, pepper and salt into a small bowl. Scoop the onions out of the buttermilk and allow any excess to drip off.

Step 4

Transfer the onions to the flour mixture and toss together.

Step 5

Cook onions in the pan for 2-3 minutes until golden brown then remove with slotted spoon and drain.

Create guacamole topping by mashing your avocado with the juice of 1 lime and season with salt and pepper.

Assemble your hot dog, top with the guacamole and the crispy onions.
