Add Beans and Chocolate: Add the baked beans to the saucepan and stir to combine. Cook for about 5 minutes until heated through. Add the finely chopped dark chocolate and stir until melted and fully incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Prepare the Toast: While the beans are cooking, toast the slices of artisan bread until golden and crispy. Spread the remaining butter evenly over the hot toast.
Assemble: Spoon the chocolate-infused beans over the buttered toast slices. If desired, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top.
